LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University volleyball team continued its winning ways as it traveled to Lexington, Ky. for a matchup with the Transylvania University Pioneers. Both teams entered with identical 3-0 marks in the Heartland Conference, but when the dust settled it was Coach Yarnell's Beavers that walked away with their spotless record intact. Transy slipped to 13-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference, while the visitors from up north improved to 13-6 and 4-0 in the HCAC.

Bluffton trailed by as many as four points in the lidlifter before senior Kendra Parmenter (Grove City) took over and added to her legacy with six kills and no errors in a 25-20 set one victory. The Beavers rolled out to a 15-6 lead in the second set en route to a dominating 25-13 win and 2-0 advantage. The Pioneers returned the favor, 25-15, in set three, but it was too little, too late as Bluffton capped the match with a 25-21 victory in the clincher.

Parmenter led the attack with 15 kills and a .312 hitting percentage just two days removed from taking over as the all-time kills leader at Bluffton! Fellow senior Jenny Brown (St. Marys/Memorial) was right behind with 13 spikes. Juniors MACKENZIE MCFARLIN (Ashland) and Lauren Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) both chipped in with seven kills, while freshman Jessie Gibson (Warsaw/River View) finished with six kills against just one error for a .385 hitting percentage.

Freshman sensation Erin Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) doled out 39 assists and also came up with six digs. Sydney Mohler (Lima/Central Catholic) continued to impress with 19 digs, while McFarlin came up with 10 pickups. Freshman Abby Rohrbach (New Knoxville) fired two aces for the victors. Parmenter and Lauren Weisgarber were in on four blocks apiece as the Beavers limited Transy to a .058 hitting percentage for the night.

Bluffton will enjoy its trip back up Interstate 75 with a multitude of Homecoming activities slated for Saturday, Oct. 10. The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14, when Anderson University comes to town. The first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Sommer Center.
