Betty Reed previously worked at Triplett Corp., Bluffton
Betty J. Reed, 89, died on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at 6:26 a.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1927, in Kinniconick, Ky., to Ernest and Dorothy (Pell) Rhoden who preceded her in death. Betty married Elvin Reed and he preceded her in death in 1986.
Betty formerly worked for Triplett Corp. of Bluffton, Westinghouse of Lima and prior to her retirement she worked at the Marysville Correctional Facility. Betty was a homemaker. She was a USO volunteer and a member of the Kenton Moose Lodge #428 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by four sons: Doug (Patty) Reed of Waynesfield, Gary Reed of Ada, Ken (Delores) Reed of Forest and Kirk (Karen) Reed of Kenton; two daughters: Nedra (Brad) Shafer of Bluffton and Jayna Petty of Bellefontaine; 25 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Darrell (Patricia) Rhoden of California.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Myron Dean Reed and Morris Gale Reed; four grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Becky Burns-Reed; son-in-law, Robin Petty; and six sisters.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 3883 Monroe Street, Toledo, Ohio 43606.
