She just completed an internship with the American Red Cross of West Central Ohio where she worked on a proposal for a new project management leadership program

Senior Jena O’Brien came to Bluffton University for the academic support and community feel of campus. Now entering her final semester, the Toledo, Ohio, native and public relations major says the opportunities provided by the university have equipped her for both the job market and life in the world.

Ashley Zupancic, first-year pharmacy resident at ONU, checks the blood pressure of a client on Wednesday during a free health screening in Bluffton through the ONU HealthWise mobile clinic. The mobile clinic comes to the Bluffton Public Library each month to offer the screenings.

Interstate 75 northbound between Bentley Road and state Route 103 (Jefferson Street) in the Village of Bluffton will be restricted to one lane through the work zone on Thursday, Jan. 24, for the repair of cable rail barrier. Work is being performed by the ODOT roadway services department.

Joan Basinger, 86, died Jan. 22, 2019, at Lima Memorial Health System.  Joan was born Jan. 3, 1933 in Lima, Ohio to the late Ralph and Francis (Hile) Cheney. On March 6, 1957, she married Clarence Kenneth Basinger who survives.

Joan graduated from Lima Central High School.  She worked as a telephone operator and later a secretary at Lima Telephone Company.  Joan also worked at Wittgor in Columbus Grove.

The next Our Version of Adult Learning (OVAL) is Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center.

Jonah Agner, The Food Store, presents “Healthy Comfort Food.” Participants will get to eat whatever he makes. Cost is $3 for members, $4 for non-members.

And, on Thursday, Jan. 24, also at 10 a.m. Deb Stockford, The Frosting Studio, presents “Frosting a Snowman.” She will demonstrate her technique for decorating a snowman cake and participants get a taste. Cost is $2 for members, $3 for non-members.
