“Running a trapline for muskrats with my dad during my early school years earned many fond memories that will stay with me forever,” says Joe Goodman.

The Bluffton native, recently combined those skill with his artistic ability. He has illustrated a book  “Master Trappers,” recently released by Tom Miranda Outdoor Incorporated of Englewood, Florida.

It is described as the most comprehensive trapping book written in the last 50 years.

The full-color, 8 ½ by 11-inch book contains 400 pages with dozens of color illustrations by Goodman.

His work is showcased on his website: www.JoeGoodmanPrints.com. The website provides details for ordering several of Goodman’s art work and the art published in "Master Trappers."

For example, a limited-series companion art print of the book’s cover, signed by Miranda and Goodman, as a special artist’s edition, is one of the items available.

Goodman grew up in Bluffton, is a 1979 Bluffton High School graduate, and is the son of Lois Goodman and the late Joe Goodman, Sr.

Friends and classmates of Goodman are well aware of his long-time interest in explorers, mountain men and trappers of an earlier era. He has made a lifetime of sketching portraits focusing on these subjects.

He holds a bachelor's of fine arts degree in illustration from Columbus College of Art and Design.

As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoys many facets of the outdoor experience, which reflects his special interest in North American wildlife. His fascination with the culture of native Americans, as well as the history of the fur trade era shows in the accuracy and detail of his many original works.
