Graduate-level course on U.S. education offered at Bluffton University
Bluffton University is offering a graduate-level course which will consider the purpose of education in the United States and the ways it has changed over time. The class will run Jan. 12–March 4, 2022.
“Throughout U.S. history, education has been lifted up as ‘the great equalizer,’” said Dr. Paul Neufeld Weaver, professor of education and Spanish and director of global education. “As teachers, we are part of an experiment—one which seeks to determine whether our work with our students can offer access to a better future for those who have been marginalized in the past.”
Offered online via Zoom, the 3-hour course will pay particular focus on the dynamics of race, culture, ethnicity and poverty in determining who gets educated and how in the United States.
The registration deadline is Dec. 10, 2021.
For more information or to enroll, contact Amy Burrell, enrollment counselor for adult and graduate studies, at [email protected] by phone at 419-358-3254.
At Bluffton, working adults can complete their degrees in accounting, business management, social work and RN to BSN or earn their Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) or Master of Arts in Organizational Management (MAOM).
