Photo-Story: C-R celebrates reading with monster-themed week
The evening of March 7 gave families in the Cory-Rawson school district a taste of Right to Read week at the elementary school, 3930 Co Rd 26. The family literacy night provided free books, the opportunity to sign up for a library card, pizza and snacks, a book fair and a gym full of games with prizes.
This year's Right to Read theme is "A book a day keeps the mosters away," which was displayed on staff t-shifts and throughout the school.
- Students could choose from some 350 free books provided to the C-R Education Association by the American Federation of Teachers, which provides books children can read, love and keep.
- The Findlay-Hancock Public Library hosted a table where guests could sign up for a library card.
- Cory-Rawson High School students led 10 games and activities in the gym.
- A book fair, which continues through the week, gives families an opportunity to purchase books at the school. Proceeds benefit the school library.
- The 4:30-6:30 p.m. event was ready for hungry families and treated them to pizza, chips and drinks.
As part of the daily celebration of reading, the elementary school will be hosting guest readers. Students will vote for their favorite guest reader.
