Bluffton Public Library

Fall programming underway with many activities planned

Group tech courses, National Video Games Day, line dancing, fall book sale, Banned Books Week...and more are on the September calendar at the Bluffton Public Library.

Here's the schedule:

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month. This year, Disney Pixar’s superhero family from The Incredibles remind us that libraries are “incredible” and that getting a library card is the first step to a really “super lifestyle.” Fill your life with fun and learning so you may “pursue your passions and succeed” (ala.org).

And, the public library has everything you need to observe the day

When was the last time you picked up a crayon or colored pencil?

The Bluffton Public Library invites you to do just that on Thursday, Aug. 2. That’s because the library celebrates National Coloring Book Day. That takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the library.

The library staff will have a variety of coloring pages and coloring utensils available for patrons of all ages. Those will be available on the library’s main floor.

Feel free to share your creations with the Icon at: [email protected]

Here's a summary of activities

Bluffton Public Library announces its August events and services. Here's a summary:

Backyard Habitats, a presentation by Dan Hodges of Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District will be held on July 17 at 6 p.m.

With less than 10% of land in Allen County in any semblance of natural area, our rich natural history is in danger of becoming just that – history. Join Naturalist Dan Hodges for a sampling of what the natural world in this area has to offer, and learn a little about how you can participate -- even in your own backyard!

Bluffton Public Library presents another FREE Mobile Health Clinic tomorrow from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Meet staff and students of the ONU Healthwise program in their Mobile Health vehicle in the library’s rear parking lot. This clinic offers free screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, and lipids (please fast for 12 hours prior to your arrival if you wish to participate in the lipids screening) as well as a bone density screening for osteoporosis. Participants may speak with Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.

With programs for youth through adults

Here's the list of special programs in July at the Bluffton Public Library.

The “Libraries Rock” Summer Program continues. Because registration for many of these programs began at the beginning of June, registration may be full for some programs. To register, call at 419-358-5016, visit our website at blufftonpubliclibrary.org, or stop in during library hours.
