Your very own arts and crafts poster

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 39th annual Bluffton arts and crafts show Saturday, May 22, downtown Bluffton. This year's event includes over 50 craft booths. The show hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition, the show will have free entertainment (BHS jazz band and BHS show choir), food vendors, a llama exhibit, a student art show, pony rides, farmer's market, and ethnic foods.

Young library patrons invited to a tea party May 10

The Bluffton Public Library invites young patrons to dress up in their fanciest ensemble (don't forget to accessorize), bring your posh pet (pretend pets only, please) and join the staff for an unforgettable Fancy Nancy Tea Party.

The event is at 6 p.m., Monday, May 10, at the library, according to Rikki Steingass, youth services coordinator.

There is no cost for this program, but guests are asked to register at the front desk or by phone, 419-358-5016. This program recommended for ages 2-8; each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

BFR New Member Special available through May 31

Bluffton Family Recreation wants to encourage new members by offering a
different version of a Buy One Get One Free deal.

According to Carole Enneking, BFR director, "This new membership special does require some effort from the customer, but that is the point. Research shows that people start exercise programs with lofty goals but often drop out of the program within the first two weeks.

The BFR New Member Special will be available through May 31.

Next bloodmobile visit to Bluffton on May 7

The next American Red Cross bloodmobile visit to Bluffton is Friday, May 7, from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Bluffton High School in the New Gymnasium, located at 106 W. College Ave. in Bluffton.

Persons who donate will receive a free t-shirt.

To help increase donation activity during the summer, the Red Cross is bringing back Red Cross Racing for a third season. This online donor rewards program encourages more people to give blood and asks eligible donors to give more often.

Applications available for McDonald's Mac Grants

Area teachers may now apply for a McDonald's MAC Grant, which offers financial support to help teachers Make Activities Count for their students.

Local McDonald's Owner, Jerry Lewis, is offering this educational initiative to assist area elementary and middle school teachers.

Recognizing that lessons often become more meaningful when demonstrated with hands-on experiences, McDonald's supplements regular classroom curriculum by supporting activities that the school's budget may not allow.

BHS class of 1945 celebrates 65th reunion in July

The Bluffton High School class of 1945 will celebrate its 65th reunion on Saturday, July 17.

The event will feature a catered luncheon on the third floor of the Town Hall.

"There are approximately 24 class members who have been notified and we expect a good turnout.All of us are in our 80s, but the memories of things that occurred in 1945 are vivid and fun to recall," said class member Charles A. Triplehorn of Hilliard,
