Here's all the caption entries to our recent contest

Here's the scene: The Icon walks up to a coffee shop and find a Bluffton police office lecturing nearly a dozen guys who appear to be sitting through a school detention.

The Icon posts the photo and asked viewers to write a caption for the photo (it's attached to this story). We received several dozen entries. The competition was brutal. Here's the winners:

MHCO provides online resource for care

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) has published a white paper, “Finding the Right Care for Your Parent,” to assist family members in finding the best environment for an elderly parent or other relative.  The paper is available at no charge on the MHCO website.

Lunch and entertainment will be provided at the Tuesday, Aug. 7, meeting of PrimeTimers, a ministry of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio and St. John Mennonite Church.  PrimeTimers meets at the church, 15988 Road 4, Pandora, at 12 p.m. 

The menu includes BBQ ribs, au gratin potatoes, scalloped corn, creamy coleslaw, rolls and cake.  There is no cost for the meal, but donations are accepted.

Bluffton University grad has worked with the village since 2008

Bluffton council named Bryan Lloyd, a member of the Bluffton village services department since 2008, as the village’s new assistant village administrator on Monday.

The assistant position opened when Jesse Blackburn vacated it to become village administrator. The position pays $57,000 annually.

Lloyd, is a 2002 Bath High School graduate, and a 2007 Bluffton University grad, with a degree in management. He holds a Class II water and Class II sewer license. He began his new position on Tuesday.

Leave it to the elders at Maple Crest to show off their talent. They even put on a show on Friday. The lineup included several musicians performing solos and duets, actors, and others too talented to describe.
