Leland and Joanne Voth celebrated 65 years of marriage on Sept. 2, 2015.
Leland grew up in China where his parents were missionaries with the General Conference Mennonite Church and later lived in Newton, Kansas. Joanne's home town is Bluffton. Joanne left Bluffton College for one year as an exchange student to Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. She later graduated from Bluffton College. In 1950 they were married in the First Mennonite Church, Bluffton.
There are openings for Mennonite Memorial Home Mobile Meal Volunteer Drivers. Volunteers deliver just one day a month and openings are on the 2nd Wednesday and the 4th Tuesday of each month. Meals are prepared by The Mennonite Memorial Home and are delivered with-in the Bluffton Village limits. The delivery starts at 11:30 a.m. and takes approximately 30 – 45 minutes. Ben and Evania Moser graduated from Bluffton High School together in 2011. I had the chance to catch up with them about their lives together since then!
What did each of you do for school after graduation? Evania: I went to Rhodes State College to get my Associate Nursing Degree.
Ben: Well I initially went to BGSU for my freshman year of college and majored in Criminal Justice and then transferred to Bluffton for Youth Ministry after my first year of college.
Did you ever wonder how Elbert Dubenion was recruited to play football at Bluffton College? Would you believe Leland Garmatter, whose funeral was Aug. 24, was the reason?
For newcomers to the Icon, Dubenion was Bluffton College's greatest football player. After college he played for the Buffalo Bills.
