Mennonite Memorial Home Service Group's annual silent auction is now accepting bids. The auction items are on display in the MMH lobby at 410 W. Elm St.

Several significant items are in this year's auction. 

On item, in particular, is an oak roll-top desk, which belonged to Paul Reichenbach (55 inches wide by 44 inches) and was used by him at Reichenbach Lumber.

Challenged Champions Equestrian Center, 11913 Road 6, Ottawa, invites persons to volunteer for the fall session, now underway.

Volunteers are needed for classes held Mondays-Thursday evenings and Wednesday-Friday mornings. No horse experience is necessary.

Matthew Spallinger, a 2013 graduate of Bluffton High School and a 2015 graduate of the University of  Rio Grande, took first place for his Highboy Dresser in the Case Goods category in the Association of Woodworking Furnishings & Suppliers (AWFS) Fresh Wood competition for North American students considering a career in woodworking held in Las Vegas.

Twenty years ago health care choices for seniors who were in need of care were somewhat limited to either a hospital stay or going to a nursing home. 

Kathy Rode, a nurse at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, saw that many of them could stay at home with just a little assistance.

“We wanted to offer a third option in the way of home health services, where nurses would make visits in people’s homes to help them recoup after surgeries or if they needed further assistance,” said Rode, who is the founding Director of Mennonite Home Health and Senior Services. 

Bluffton Farmers’ Market customers buy lots of fresh produce from B & L Produce Farm, Cridersville.

This is the vendor’s seventh year at the market, according to Bret Bodine, who, with his wife, Lynn, come to Bluffton each Saturday.
