Jonathan Andreas, associate professor of economics at Bluffton University, gave a program about the world economy of oil on May 5 to the Bluffton Lions.
He spoke about the large oil producing countries of which the USA is one of the largest.
He explained in detail why oil is important for global economics adding that the United States was and is the world top oil producer in 1996 and 2015.
Make that two Athlete of the Year awards for Hannah Chappell-Dick (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton). Eastern Mennonite University's middle distance runner has been named the South/Southeast Region Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Chappell-Dick also claimed the honor from the indoor season before winning the silver medal in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Andy Althaus, SVP, Accounting at Citizens National Bank, recently graduated from the Bank Leadership Institute at the Ohio Bankers League. He was one of only 20 bankers from across Ohio to complete the program this year.
The Bluffton middle school orchestras participated in OMEA's Large Group Adjudicated Event on May 15 at Parkway High School.
Bluffton 6th Grade String Orchestra performed in class 'C' with 'Dragon Slayer' by Rob Grice, 'Clog Dance' by Elliot Del Borgo and 'Main Street March' by Robert Frost. The group received an 'Excellent' rating.
Chris Justus is the Bluffton High School student of the month for May.
Chris, son of Shawn Justus and the late Vivia Justus, is a senior at Bluffton HS. His grade point average is 3.154. Chris has been a member of the Bluffton High School football team for the past three seasons. He also played on the basketball team.
