Sara Bertka, a Bluffton High School junior is the BHS student of the month for February. Sara, daughter of Randy and Holly Bertka of Bluffton has a 4.000 grade point average.
She participates in Spanish Club, Art Club, Drama Club and Math Club. She is a member of the BHS concert band and was one of the captains on the flag corps team. She received a perfect score on the Math OGT, has received an Academic Award for her GPA, is the junior class president, a member of the National Honor Society and "Leaders of Tomorrow."
Hilty Preschool and Child Care, Pandora, is hosting a summer and fall registration open house for parents of prospective six-week-old through 12-year-old children from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 22.
Since 1989, Hilty Preschool and Child Care has provided child care and preschool education in a caring Christian environment. Energetic and experienced staff work with the children to help them learn and develop skills.
Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) and Jerry Lewis’ McDonald’s will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. sharp, Saturday, March 28, at Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.
The Easter egg hunt will take place come rain or shine. There will be no rain date.
Children ages 8 and under are invited to come, hunt for hidden eggs, register for prizes, gift baskets and have their parents take their pictures with the Easter Bunny.
The Bluffton HS Academic team took first place out of 15 teams at the Wright State University Scholastic Bowl on Friday, March 6.
The win qualifies the team to compete in the Ohio Academic Competition Regional Tournament in April. Team members from left, Alton Burkholder, Christopher Harnish, Katie Scott, Elizabeth Nisly, Noah Woodruff and Brice Metzger.

The Bluffton elementary PTO never stops to take a breath. Melissa Knauss, PTO president, provided an update from the organization for the Icon. It follows:
"The PTO committee continues to look at ways we can help our school, teachers, and students.
"Nineteen lunch box totes were purchased and are being used by the majority of the first through fourth grade classrooms. The students can now take lunch boxes with ease to the cafeteria, as the totes have wheels and a handle.
