Judy Augsburger of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) recently was accepted into the seven-month LeadingAge Ohio Leadership Academy, an innovative collaborative program beginning in January and running through August designed to develop the next generation of leaders in the senior services profession.

The Midwest Electric Community Connections Fund awarded the Hilty Preschool and Child Care, Pandora, with a grant of $1,500 at a presentation ceremony in St. Marys.

Hilty Preschool and Child Care made the request in order to provide eight iPads for the Preschool program. The grant was awarded on Feb. 5.

Congratulations to Joel Siefker for being chosen as January Student of the Month at Bluffton High School.

Joel is the son of Dave and Shirley Siefker of Bluffton. Joel is a junior at Bluffton High School where he has a GPA of 3.950.

He attends St. Mary's Catholic Church and is in their youth group. He is a member of the Bluffton's varsity basketball team and played football in the fall. He enjoys golfing and snowmobiling in his spare time.

Maple Crest Senior Living Village, Bluffton, hosts a soup cook-off on Thursday, Feb. 19, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the public is invited. 

The event is in the Patio room in the lower level of the Maple Crest main building. there everyone can sample gourmet soups prepared by various local restaurants and caterers.

Many budding poets attend Bluffton Middle  School. 

Here's proof: The Anthology of Poetry, a forum recognizing writing excellence in students, recently announced the list of Bluffton seventh and eighth graders who have poems published in this year’s anthology, according to Robin Ault, middle school language arts teacher.

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, Bluffton, is accepting applications for the Barbara Fleming Memorial Nursing Scholarship. 

The scholarship is meant to promote the career of nursing.  Therefore the scholarship money may be used toward a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse, a degree as a Registered Nurse, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The scholarship is to be used to pay school related expenses toward any of these degrees.

The scholarship offers a minimum award of $500, and will be paid directly to the vocational school or college where the student is enrolled.
