A spaghetti benefit meal is planned from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15, for former Bluffton resident Tim Bame. Tim, his wife, Julie, and their two children, Christian, 17, and Hillarie, 14, were Bluffton residents for seven years.

The benefit takes place at Southside Christian Church, 3300 S. Side Dr., Lima. Tickets are $10 per person. Persons interested in attending may RSVP on Facebook. (Tim Bame Spaghetti Dinner Benefit)

Here’s Tim’s story:

Lots of Halloweeners participated in BFR Sports and Fitness Halloween party in late October. Sixty-five contestants participated and a crowd of over 150 persons attended. Here are the costume winners, according to Carole Enneking.

Keith and Shirley Sommer of rural Pandora, celebrated 45 years of marriage with their family on November 1. They met while doing voluntary service at Camp Friedenswald, Cassopolis, Mich. They were married at Shirley's home church of Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church in rural Wayland, IA.

They came out of the woodwork on Thursday as Bluffton residents opened their doors to Halloweeners.

Thanks to the Bluffton University photojournalism class, the Icon captured lots of dressed characters on camera.

Student photographers in the project included Meg Short, Delano Whidbee, Mitch Gatzke, Colton Steiner, Venessa Owsley and Caitlin Nearhood.

The Ohio Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, announced that Kevin Hilty and Diamond Manufacturing, Bluffton, were recently honored.

Hilty, a Diamond employee, received the Patriot Award in recognition of support of its employee serving in the Marine Corps Reserve.

Jim Boedicker will perform at Prime Timers November 4 at St. John Mennonite Church, 15988 Road 4, Pandora. The event begins at noon and includes dinner. Boedicker's performance will include humorous songs, standards, some serious songs, and trick guitar moves. 

The dinner menu includes turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, mixed green salad with maple dressing, cranberry nut bread, pumpkin pie, and coffee. Donations are accepted.
