Hancock County’s Cory-Rawson High School took home both the ODOT choice award and people’s choice award in a clean sweep of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1’s annual Paint the Plow contest. The plow’s artwork honors Bluffton Police Department Officer Dominic Francis.

The S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club of Bluffton has awarded two “Service To Humanity” scholarship awards, given to graduating seniors of Bluffton High School.

The 2022 outstanding $1000 scholarship winners are:

Sophie Bricker, daughter of Tyler and Sarah Bricker.  Sophie plans to enter the field of Integrated Mathematics Education at Bowling Green State University.

Ellie Nickel, daughter of Kevin and Kendra Nickel.   Ellie will pursue a degree in Psychology at Goshen College.

John Hochstetler of Bluffton, and Terry Moran and Ryan Moran of Ottawa, race the USAC D2 Midget Series pictured here.

The Apollo students have machined some of the parts for the midget, and the team races April through October throughout Ohio and Indiana.

Bluffton’s Mike Rhonemus was recently awarded the 2021 High Mileage Award for 21,005 outside miles ridden, an honor presented by the Northwest Ohio Toledo Area Bicyclists. His goal was to ride the number of miles around the equator and--with indoor miles added--he did.

Dina Tadena is retiring after working at the Bluffton Middle School as a math teacher for the past 22 years. She previously taught at the Apollo Career Center High School and has a combined total of 34 years at area schools. The total number of students she taught? What would you guess?
