West Elm Street project is one step closer to completion.

Hohenbrink Contractors will begin paving the street on Friday, according to Bryan Lloyd, assistant village administrator.

He told the Icon that the contractor will apply the base course Friday and final course on Monday.

Several Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce members have events planned this spring.

52nd Festival of Wheels registrations now underway

Vehicle registration for this 52nd annual Bluffton Festival of Wheels is underway according to Dan Diller, festival director.

The show is sponsored by the Bluffton Lions Club.

This year’s festival is Friday, June 14, in downtown Bluffton. Registration is from 2 to 5 p.m. Vehicle judging is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Trophies will be awarded at 7:30 p.m.

The show is open to antique cars, classic cars, trucks, tractors, golf carts, fire engines, motorcycles and Cushmans.

Registration fees by May 31 are $10 per vehicle. Registration on the day of the event is $12.

Interstate 75 northbound near state Route 103, Bluffton, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for bridge deck repairs during daytime hours on Thursday, May 16.

Entrance ramp from state Route 103 to Interstate 75 northbound will be closed during daytime hours on Thursday, May 16, for bridge deck repairs. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 103 and state Route 235 back to Interstate 75 northbound.

Work is being performed by the ODOT District 1 roadway services department.

Bluffton's Memorial Day parade is Monday, May 27.

The parade forms at 9:15 a.m at the town hall and starts at 9:30 a.m. Terry L. Marshall, Blufton High School graduate, is the speaker for the Memorial Day ceremony held at the Memorial Circle at Maple Grove Cemetary following the parade.

The Bluffton American Legion Post will hold a chicken barbecue at the Citizens National Bank parking lot from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $8.50 each.
