Kylie Stackhouse led Bluffton with season-high 28 kills

WAPAKONETA - The visiting Bluffton volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win a non-league five-set battle at Defiance Ayersville Thursday evening.

The 25-22, 21-25, 20-25, 25-12, 15-8 comeback victory upped the Lady Pirate record to 3-1.

Kylie Stackhouse led Bluffton with a season-high 28 kills. Versatile Taylor Schwab knocked down 15 kills, made 19 digs and served four aces.

A late score by host Van Buren tied Bluffton 2-2 in girls soccer non-league action Tuesday evening.

The Lady Pirate kickers are now 0-2-1.

VB scored first in the 23rd minute, yet Bluffton's Laykin Garmatter tied it seven minutes later.

Gaermatter put the Pirates ahead 2-1 with her second goal in the 49th minute.

But with two minutes left Black Knight Henner knotted it up with a late tally.

VB put five of its eight shots on goal. Bluffton fired 21 shots, 11 of which were on goal.

Visiting Bath edged Bluffton 3-2 in girls tennis Tuesday evening.

The loss ended the Lady Pirate three-match win streak and dropped their record to 3-3.

Bluffton sophomore Ellison Pugsley won at third singles 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.

The sophomore duo of Ellie Nickels and Libby Frazier provided the other Pirate win at second doubles by outlasting their opponents 6-3, 5-7, 10-8.

Bluffton played at Wapakoneta on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Host Shawnee swept Bluffton in a non-league volleyball match Tuesday evening.

The Lady Pirate record fell to 2-1 with the 25-18, 25-12, 25-17 defeat.

Taylor Schwab topped the Pirates with six kills. Kylie Monday and Kylie Stackhouse each added four kills for Bluffton.

Skyler Scoles passed out 16 assists while Monday came up with a dozen digs 12. Taylor Monday made nine digs and Joscelin Reineke added seven digs.

Taylor Monday, Schwab and Kylie Monday each served one ace.

Host Bluffton netted three early goals and cruised to a 7-0 win over Spencerville Tuesday evening in th Northwest Conference opener.

The four-time defending league champion Pirates improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the NWC with the win. The Bearcats dropped to 1-3 and 0-2 in the NWC with the defeat.

Jude Spallinger began the scoring in the 11th minute, followed four minutes later by a Jonathan Schriner goal. Kaden Basil tallied in the 21st minute and Andrew Heldman scored just before halftime to make it 4-0 at intermssion.

The visiting Bluffton girls' tennis team lost to Wapakoneta 4-1 Wednesday evening. The loss dropped the Lady Pirate record to 3-4. Bluffton senior Erin Hotmire earned the only Pirate win at first singles. Hotmire's 6-3, 6-0 victory over junior Madison Snider raised her individual season record to 5-2. Wapak won three matches easily in straight sets, and secured another win by forfeit at third singles to take the match. Bluffton plays at the Lima City event Saturday at 11 a.m.
