ARLINGTON - The Bluffton golf team finished third out of 11 teams in the stacked Liberty-Benton Invitational at Sycamore Springs Golf Course Friday in Arlington.
Lima Central Catholic won the tournament with 321 strokes to beat second-place host L-B by 13 shots.
The Pirates totaled 348 strokes to finish one shot ahead of local league rival Allen East, which came in a close fourth (349) just in front of Van Buren (353).
FROM ADA ICON - The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced the schedules for football, volleyball and men's and women's soccer for the 2021 spring seasons.
All sports will begin competition on the weekend of March 12, 2021, and will conclude on the weekend of April 16 with championships games in all sports.
The four schedules feature conference-only competition and remain under the NCAA's 50 percent waiver rule so that all student-athletes will not use a season of competition.
Pirate linksters win NWC quad By Cort Reynolds
BLUFFTON - The Bluffton golf team won a four-team Northwest Conference match Thursday at the Bluffton Golf Course.
The co-host Pirates won with 175 strokes, followed by Columbus Grove (184), Crestview (203) and Ada (211).
Bluffton improved to 3-0 in the NWC with the wins.
Kenny Lovett of Bluffton was match medalist with a 39.
Micah Minnig shot 42, followed by Wes Brauen (45) and Jaden Confare (49) as the other Pirate scorers.
The all-NWC season schedule is attached as is a tournament playoff bracket.

The Northwest Conference athletic directors met Wednesday and came up with a unique new season schedule and tournament in response to the pandemic.
The previous schedule with non-league games to start out with has been totally scrapped. For 2020, the NWC has been split into two divisons, East and West, with a short three-game pool play schedule preceding a league tournament that will guarantee each school three more games.

BOWLING GREEN - The Bluffton golf team finished eighth in the 14-team Wildcat Invitational at the Stone Ridge Golf Club Wednesday in Bowling Green.
Pettisville won the event with 318 strokes, followed by Margaretta in a distant second (340) and host Woodmore (344) in third. The Pirates totaled 367 strokes to edge Toledo Christian by one shot for eighth place.
Kenny Lovett led the Pirates with an 18-hole score of 40-41=81. He finished strongly in a tie for eighth place amid the 81-player field.
