Competitive Balance roster data from 2017 season used to determine 2018 divisional assignments

New divisional breakdowns for the upcoming fall sports of football, volleyball and soccer were approved by the Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors during its January meeting last Thursday.

Bluffton's divisions follow:
• Football - Division VI
• Volleyball - Division IV
• Soccer, Boys and Girls - Division III

Bluffton dropped a non-league Saturday evening game by a 30-27 count.  The Pirates were outscored 8-2 in the third quarter allowing Patrick Henry to build a lead they wouldn’t give up.  Bluffton fell to 5-7 with the loss, Patrick Henry improved to 5-8 with the win. Deandre Nassar finished second, Tayton Kleman and James Badial-Luna fifth and Jeremy Sturgeon sixth to lead Bluffton to a 13th place team finish at the Van Buren Invitational.  The premier area event featured 29 schools.  Nassar was seeded second at 195 and won his first two matches by pin downing (go to www.blufftonpirates.com for rest of story)

The BHS girls' basketball team bounced back from their first league loss in a big way with a 58-26 shellacking of Pandora-Gilboa on the Rockets’ home floor. Junior Alivia Koenig poured in a game high 26 points including eight 3’s to lead the offensive charge.  Bluffton improved to 11-4 with the win, PG fell to 3-11.

The Bluffton High School girls' basketball team defeated Lincolnview in NWC play tonight (Jan. 11) 45-37. The Pirates were led by Averey Rumer with 14 and Katie Prater with 13. Pirates are back in action next Thursday against Spencerville. Click here for more details.

Wapakoneta defeated Bluffton boys' 51-41 in a non-conference basketball game Tuesday night. Wapak was led in scoring by Adam Scott with 17. The Pirates were led by Jared Piercefield with 11. Click here for the complete story.
