Hannah Chappell-Dick, a Bluffton High School graduate and a senior at Eastern Mennonite University, has qualified for the 2015 Division III NCAA Cross Country Championships in Winneconne, Wisc. The meet takes place Saturday, Nov. 21. The top 35 finishers earn All-American status.
Bluffton High School head football coach Kyle Cutnaw resigned his position Monday. Coach Cutnaw leaves the Pirate football program after just two seasons at the helm.
Just weeks ago, Bluffton concluded a 7-3 season, the most single season wins in a decade.
Cutnaw cited personal, family reasons for his resignation. He went 10-10 in his two years as coach.
Bluffton will now look for a new head football coach, something a bit out of the ordinary for the usually stable program. Cutnaw took the reigns following a 25-year run by Dennis Lee.
On Nov. 11, Bluffton High School senior Samantha Fruchey signed a letter of intent to play softball for the Malone University in Canton.
She will join Coach Kathryn Bzdafka and the Pioneer softball team next fall.
In her time at Bluffton High School, Fruchey has been a standout on the volleyball and softball teams, earning all Northwest Conference honors in both sports.
Her success also extends beyond athletics. She is an honor roll student, a Northwest Conference Scholar Athlete, and a member of the Northwest Conference Sportsmanship Committee.
