The Bluffton community’s 14th annual Fall Festival, with many family-oriented activities, takes place throughout the community on Saturday, Sept. 22, according to Daren Lee of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, who coordinates the festival.

All activities are free unless otherwise designated. Food and other items are available for purchase at multiple locations.

Two meetings were schedule by the village on Friday. Both are set prior to Monday's 7 p.m., regularly scheduled council meeting.

Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, said, "We’ll be discussing upcoming projects that need council agreement on completing in 2019.  More specifically it will involve work on East Jefferson Street from Main St to County Line Road.

Those meeting details follow:

The equipment was over 26 years old and has been mended many times over the years. It became unrepairable, and had to be removed

Bluffton Child Development Center’s playground is bare, according to Francine Donathan, director.

“Our playground equipment was over 26 years old and has been mended many times over the years,” she told the Icon. “It became unrepairable, and had to be removed."

Because of that the children at BCDC, 325 County Line Road, do not have outdoor climbing equipment.

“Since we are a tuition-based non-profit organization, we rely on the kindness and support of our community,” she said, adding that the center has tried for many grants and has not succeeded.

Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common disease among children, especially for those under 5 years of age.

Outbreaks of this disease in Ohio often happen during the summer and fall. It is most commonly caused by Coxsaskieviruses, which causes painful blisters in the mouth and throat as well as blister rashes on the hands, feet and diaper area. The virus is spread by the close contact, cough, nasal or oral secretions, and/or stool from infected persons.

Bluffton Lions Club president, Dr. Christina Walton, recently donated 100 books for the Ohio Lions Action Project. The books will be distributd  to six children's hospitals around Ohio following the USA/Canada Lions Forum.
