Southbound lanes of I-75 between county Road 99 and U.S. 224 will be shifted

The southbound lanes of Interstate 75 between county Road 99 and U.S. 224, within the city of Findlay, will be shifted overnight Monday, July 2, into the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 3.

Both lanes of Interstate 75 southbound in that area are currently located toward the center of the highway, next the median. Monday night’s traffic shift will move them to the right, allowing traffic to travel on the two outside lanes. Access to all Findlay exits from Interstate 75 southbound will be maintained.

Judith Kingsley is the new president of the Swiss Community Historical Society. She was elected to the office during the society’s annual meeting at Swiss Day on June 24. Her term is three-years.

Other officers elected, also to three-year terms, are Gary Wetherill, vice president and John Burkhart, treasurer. Wetherill is the past president.

300 Club memberships are now available

The Bluffton Athletic Boosters are launching a new fundraiser this summer to replace the annual August booster drive. The new program also reduces the number of 50/50 raffles held at athletic events.

A letter inviting the community to become one of the first members of the club went out earlier this month from the boosters.

Club members will be eligible to win weekly and special monthly drawings held throughout the year.

Two Bluffton businesses spearheading school supply collection for Community Assistance Program

Southgate Lanes and Stratton Auto Group have teamed up to make certain that all Bluffton students have school supplies when the 2018-19 school year begins in August.

Derek Dukes of Southgate Lanes and Jesse Owsley of Stratton Auto Group are heading up the drive.

“Our drive starts on June 27 and will continue until the end of July,” said Owsley. “We are collecting supplies to benefit Bluffton Community Assistance Program’s food pantry.”

He added, “ It would be awesome if we could collect enough supplies for every Bluffton student who needs them.”

Maple Crest Men’s Banquet and OSU…both winners!

Even though there was a small University of Michigan contingent, the gentlemen of Maple Crest Senior Living Village, overwhelmingly showed their Buckeye Pride at the recent Men’s Banquet. 

Nearly 60 residents and guests attended the event, aptly named “Buckeye Night,” and dined on ribs, mashed potatoes, baked beans and deviled eggs with football-shaped brownies for dessert! 

The Bluffton High School class of 1963 held  its 55th class reunion in Bluffton June 22 and 23. 

Friday evening was casual conversation at the Buckeye Sportsman Depot. On Saturday the group met for an evening meal at By Still Waters Bistro in Bluffton followed by a group discussion about Bluffton during the 1950s and1960s lead by Pauline Kinsinger Watts and Rich Bucher.
