Dr. Perry Bush, professor of history, will present the Colloquium, "We Have them Whipped Here: Lynching and the Role of Law in Lima," on Friday, Sept. 8. During the presentation, Bush will tell the story of the last attempted lynching in the state of Ohio. 

A Mom2Mom sale is set for 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 9, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, 8905 Columbus Grove Road, Bluffton.

Mothers of Preschoolers, MOPS, is sponsoring the event.

Admission is free and the event includes a bake sale by donation. A collection of non-perishable food for the Bluffton food pantry will also take place.

Katie Heinze, a Bluffton High School senior, won first place in all five classes she entered in this year’s Allen County Junior Fair horse contests.

Emma Eickholt observed children and adults with different disorders

Emma Eickholt, Bluffton University senior psychology major from Ottoville, spent the summer volunteering at Lima Memorial Health System to learn more about careers in speech-language pathology.

“With this experience I got to see the good and the bad of a career in speech-language pathology. I got to see the hard parts along with the happy parts, and I took away the importance of speech pathology and the positive impact it can have on people’s lives,” said Eickholt.

Business showcase is Sept. 21

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce members will hold its first monthly meeting of the 2017-18 season on Friday, Sept. 8, according to Phil Zimmerly, chamber director.

The program will be presented by Harvey Moritz of Mass Mutual Financial and Dave Stratton and Eric Davis of Allen Economic Development Group.
