Bluffton Lions member Ed Yeager works with a young student during a Lions Club eye screening.

During the last week of September Bluffton Lions Club members screened 235 local children, with parental consent, using the Sure Sight auto refractor. 

A vision screening takes place to separate those with and without possible vision problems. Vision screening results may indicate a potential need for further assessment.

From these children, 31 were found to fail the screening and information was provided to their parents to have these children seen by an optometrist. 

It is the goal of Lions Clubs to help to prevent severe eye damage by screening children at a young age. 

The Sure Sight program is conducted by Lions throughout the State of Ohio, along with many other states. Bluffton Lions have been screening local children for three consecutive years and plan to continue with this project.
