BFR youth sport classes start next week
The next BFR Sports and Fitness session of sport skill and pre-school programs will feature basketball, dodgeball, football, soccer volleyball, swim and tennis options, according to Carole Enneking, of BFR.
Youth in grades Kindergarten through grade 3 will learn fundamental sport skills in basketball (Thursdays 3:30-4:30 p.m.), football (Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m.), and soccer (U7 Fun held on Fridays 5:15-6 p.m.)
Volleyball Skills and Drills is offered to girls in grades 3-6 who wish to develop their fundamental skills; this program will meet on Wednesdays from 4-5 p.m. Most fundamental skill class fees are $30/$15 BFR members for six weekly sessions.
A beginner Tennis group for youth in grades 2-6 will be offered on Tuesdays from 3:15-4 p.m. Tennis lessons are led by teaching pro, Phil Newland; six weekly lessons for beginners costs $60.
Van service is available from Bluffton Schools all BFR after-school programs. Informal Dodgeball Play will resume on Friday, Jan. 16, and continue weekly. Dodgeball participants can sign up for seven weeks ($15) or drop-in for $3 per week; the program is offered free to BFR members and Family Rec Pass holders.
Younger children are welcome to join the January or February Rookie All Sports program that meets on Tuesdays 4:30-5:15 p.m.This program offers children a chance to experience a different sport each week.
Tiny Tots, a 30-minute parent-child movement class will start on Friday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. Children age 15 months to 4 years participate in a variety of motor activities with their parent. Youth swim lessons will begin on Thursday, Jan. 15. The BFR swim program offered in conjunction with the Bluffton Comfort Inn; the program includes lessons for children 6 months to elementary age.
Drop-in play is offered on Wednesday and Fridays from 11 a.m. to noon in the BFR arena. Parents or caregivers and young children are invited to run and play with a variety of equipment. Cost is only $1 per child or free for BFR members and Family Rec Pass holders. Designated hours in the gymnasium and indoor arena are open to non-members on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Drop-on recreation fee is $5 per person (free with BFR membership or Family Rec Pass) or $30 for a 10 visit Individual Rec Pass.
