Youth lead Sunday Presbyterian service; blessing of animals in afternoon
Two special services planned for Sunday, Sept. 26 at BlufftonPresbyterian Church.
The morning worship service at Bluffton Presbyterian Church will feature the youth of the congregation. The service begins at 10:15 a.m. at the church located at the corner of Main and Cherry Streets in Bluffton. The youth will serve as lay readers and provide special music.
The message for the day will feature those who attended the Prebyterian Youth Triennium this past summer. The Presbyterian Church U.S.A. sponsors an international event every three years for the high school age and older youth to meet and share in a common theme. This year, over 5,000 youth participated. Church member, Teena Rhonemus, and four youth traveled to Purdue University for the week-long event.
Blessing of animals
Later in the day, the church will sponsor a Blessing of the Animals service. Pets of all sizes and their owners are welcome to join together
on the church lawn at 3 p.m. Animal lovers are welcome for this celebration, even if they can not bring a pet. The brief service will include prayers and scriptures in addition to a personal blessing from Rev. Lew VanderNaald.
In past services, reptiles, horses, dogs, cats, hamsters and birds
have been blessed. In case of inclement weather, the service will becancelled.
