Administrator suggests to extend refuse contract 1 year
Bluffton council has a full agenda tonight.
One topic that impacts most residents is a refuse hauling contract. A three-year contract was awarded in June 2016 to Republic Refuse. It included an option to extend the contract for one year should Bluffton approve a proposed monthly rate change.
That change jumps from the current $15.23 per month to $18.25 per month for residential refuse pick up from June 1, 2019, to May 31, 2010.
Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, will propose to accept the extension and bidding on a new refuse hauling contract in 2020.
The meeting will also include several committee reports that focus on 2019 projects:
• finance committee - a review of capital improvements
• parks and recreation committee - discussion of the swimming pool
• personnel committee - personnel manual, pay raises and job descriptions
Part of the printed agenda includes details of a Riley Creek watershed report card. It is attached at the bottom of this story.
Council will also consider a resolution regarding the annexation of property owned by Bluffton University.
