Crime Victim Services volunteer guardianship info session on Jan. 23
The next Crime Victim Services information session on volunteer guardianship is January 23, according to Elysia Bush of Bluffton, director, Elderly Victim Ministry and CVS Guardian Programs.
The sessions take place in the CVS training room, 220 N. Elizabeth St., Lima from noon-1 p.m. or 6-7:30 p.m. A light meal is served.
Court-sworn guardians of the person are needed to make decisions related to social services, housing and healthcare for individuals unable to make those decisions solely by themselves.
In recent months, Volunteer Guardians have hosted a birthday party, helped their person update their room décor, taken their person on outings and participated in special Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners at their person’s facilities, according to Bush.
"Our community continues to respond to the need for more guardians, which continues to grow," said Bush. "Lately, we have encountered a strong need for volunteers willing to travel to Putnam County."
Since the program began in 2017, CVS has recruited eight volunteers and five CVS Volunteer Guardianship cases are current or in the application process.
CVS serves an average of 20 cases a year screening referred cases and providing support to family guardians.
