Vaccines to 80 and older start next week

In coordination with the state roll out of COVID-19 vaccine, several area health care providers will begin administering vaccine to those age 80 and older starting next week, by appointment only.  

Allen County Public Health will maintain a list on their website and update it as providers are identified in the county. Click here for the website.

Technically a gaggle of Canada Geese is the term used when the birds are in the air. So, what do we call them when they gaggle, team or skein in the National Quarry? You guess is as good as ours. Here's this winter's familiar flock, gaggling or not, in the quarry.

Abraham Lugibihl was born Nov. 11, 1838, in Riley Township. He was the sixth of 10 children born to John C. and Anna Marie “Thüler”  (Americanized to Diller) Luginbuhl. The family came from France in 1824 to Holmes County, Ohio, and then to Riley Township in 1837.

The late Robert Kreider provided 15 images of Riley Creek that he remembered while growing up in Bluffton in the 1930s. Here are five of those images:

• Told of a tribe of gypsies camping along the creek for a day under a weeping willow tree, fashioning chairs and baskets from the willowy branches.

4 council seats, 3 school board seats, 2 township trustee seat on the ballot

This is a major election year in Bluffton.

Four council seats, three school board seats and two township trustee seats will be on the Nov. 2 general election ballot. Winners of those races will have 4-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2022.
