It's a math competition

For high school students Nov. 4 at Bluffton University

Bluffton University’s mathematics department will host its annual math competition for high school students on Saturday, Nov. 4, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall. All of the day’s activities are free.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the test beginning at 10 a.m. The test consists of short-answer questions covering high school math topics through precalculus. Cash prizes will be awarded, and test scores of seniors considering attending Bluffton may be used to award renewable scholarships of up to $1,000 per year. Scholarship awards will be offered by January 2018.

Bluffton grad is back on the links with Beaver golf

Scott Bergman now a grad assistant coach

Scott Bergman 2006  Bluffton University grad, is teeing off with Bluffton University once more.

Stepping back onto the course, this Bluffton graduate is serving as an assistant coach for the men’s golf team. Bergman was one of the last students to take part in the original golf team at Bluffton before the program discontinued in 2004.

“I think a lot of the alumni and guys I’ve played with in those two years are excited the program is back. We’re all thrilled to see it back and hoping to see it thrive,” he said.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team served up a third Heartland Conference win in a row with a three-set sweep of rival Defiance College on Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Sommer Center. The Beavers improved to 3-1 in the HCAC and 12-9 overall, while Defiance (8-9, 3-1 HCAC) suffered its first conference setback.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team surrendered two second half goals en route to a 2-0 victory by Mount St. Joseph on a rainy Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017. Bluffton dipped to 1-11 and 1-3 in the Heartland Conference, while MSJ improved to 4-7-3 on the season and 1-2-1 in the HCAC.

Women's Soccer drops 4-0 decision at MSJ

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team struggled to generate offense in a 4-0 loss to Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017. MSJ improved to 12-2 overall and 3-1 in the Heartland Conference, while the Beavers slipped to 2-10 and 1-3 in the HCAC.

Mount St. Joseph went up 1-0 midway through period one before tacking on three tallies in the second half en route to the convincing victory.

Wendy Chappell-Dick and the Anabaptist singers to share new approach to martyr songs

When Wendy Chappell-Dick, a 2008 graduate of Bluffton University’s MBA program, was in high school she saw the “Mirror of the Martyrs” exhibit for the first time on campus. As an adult, she is unveiling a unique approach to learning about Anabaptist martyrs during the exhibit’s second visit to campus.
 
“I remember the exhibit being very impactful, and I loved it,” said Chappell-Dick. “The exhibit probably sparked my lifelong interest in the martyrs because of how moving it is.”
