Most regular-priced items 40 % off; register for $50 shopping spree at The Black Lab's cash mob

Bluffton’s next cash mob is from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, at The Black Lab Trading Co., 121 N. Main St. 

The Black Lab will feature almost every regular priced item in the store will be 40% off from 4 to 6 p.m.

"If you have had your eye on something, be sure to come up, a sale like this may never happen like this again," said Julie Stratton of The Black Lab. In addition, the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will provide a drawing for a $50 shopping spree to be used at The Black Lab.

Matt Schroeder author of "The Rest is Up to You," has March 1 book signing

Matt Schroeder, author of "The Rest is Up to You," will have a book signing at Book Reviews, 123 S. Main St., Bluffton, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 1, according to Christina Walton, store manager.

Schroeder's book tells a compelling story of his horrific car accident on black ice, his severe injuries, and his long road to recovery and triumph.

BFR Keeping Active events winding down

The final days of Keeping Active are underway at BFR Sports & Fitness. The last week will feature more free walking days, a free session of water exercise, informal recreation for adults and families, plus informational demonstrations in the BFR Fitness Center. A full schedule of activities is available at the building, as well as on the web site www.bfronline.com. All of the programs will be held at the BFR facility located at 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.

Jim Dailey was past owner of Southgate Lanes bowling alley

James L. Dailey, 86, died at 11:34 a.m. Feb. 20, 2014, at Richland Manor, Bluffton. He was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Portage Township, Hancock County, Ohio, to the late Dwight and Ollie (Clouser) Dailey. On July 17, 1949, he married Joan Burkholder and she survives.

Mr. Dailey had been the owner/operator of Southgate Lanes, Bluffton. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Bluffton. He was a member of the Lima Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

It's no surprise that Christina Walton, Book ReViews' new manager, loves books

It should be no surprise that the new manager of Book ReViews loves books.

Dr. Christina Walton, Ed. D., a resident of Bluffton for one year, became manger of Book ReViews, 123 S. Main St., on Feb. 1.

"I've read books all my life," she told the Icon earlier this week. "Books are an important part of who I am."
