Hospitalized infants mark arrival of flu season

Allen County Public Health had two cases of hospitalized Infants less than 12 months of age reported having Seasonal Influenza in October.  

"We want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that in order to protect our smallest citizens, it is important that everyone get a flu shot," said Becky Dershem of the health department. 

The CDC recommends flu vaccines for everyone – 6 months of age and older.  The vaccine will be available at  the Allen County Health Department: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 8-9 a.m. and 3-4 p.m. or by appointment.

Several Bluffton HS students named "NWC scholar-athlete"

Several Bluffton High School athletes were named Northwest Conference "Scholar-Athlete."

To be recognized: 

1.  The athlete must be a letter winner in the sport.
2.  A GPA of 3.0 must be achieved during the grading period of the sport.

-Police responded to a S. Main St. Residence in response to a Domestic Violence complaint.
October 5
-Police arrested Carrie Donaldson, 34, Bluffton for DUS following a traffic stop on Kibler St. for a Stop Sign violation.  The case is being handled in Lima Municipal Court.    
October 6
-Officers responded to a hit-skip traffic crash in the 100 block of W. Kibler St.

Josh Garmatter is October BHS student of the month

The Bluffton High School student of the month for October l is Joshua Garmatter, son of Scott and Kim Garmatter of Bluffton.

Josh carris a 4.0 grade point average. He is a member of Latin Club, Math Club, SADD Club, Peer Facilitation, Student Senate and is Junior class president.

He also teaches Religious Education for firstgraders at St. Mary's Catholic Church and volunteers for church activities. He is a member of the Bluffton summer swim team. He is in the National Honor Society and has received a Latin II award.

Free Pandora community meal Nov. 20

The Pandora United Methodist Church will be hosting a free community meal on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington St., Pandora.

The meal this month is provided by the First National Bank of Pandora. The menu will be barbecued pork Sandwich, cheesy potatoes, macaroni salad, dessert and beverage.
