Letters: Scouting For Food comes to Bluffton in March - be ready

Icon viewers:

Bluffton’s Boy Scout Troop 256 is participating in a community-wide service project called Scouting For Food.

In fact, it’s the Scout’s biggest service project of the year. On Saturday, March 5, we’re going to go door-to-door in Bluffton to put a yellow grocery bag on everybody’s doorstep or porch. During the week, your bags can be filled with canned goods and such.

On March 12, put the filled bag back on your doorstep or porch. The Scouts will pick them up and take the donated items to the Bluffton Food Pantry.

Giving Back…
The Good Samaritan Women’s Group is a local volunteer group here in Bluffton that works toward servicing those in need, not only in our community, but in our area.

The group will be adopting two resident rooms at the Good Samaritan House in Lima this month, and will welcome any donations to assist with this project.

The improvement project involves painting and supplying curtains, lamps, bedding and simple décor for two bedrooms.

There are two things of interest to our family in this picture in the Bluffton Icon of downtown Bluffton, including the old Citizens Bank in the Center of town.

Senior citizens send thank you to voters

Icon:

Thank you so much to the voters of Allen County for the passage of our Senior Citizens Services Levy! The seniors thank you as well. We will now have just the one levy in Allen County to go before voters every 5 years. It includes a renewal of our .5 mil levy and an increase of .5 mil. We will stop collecting on a .3 mil levy that was also in place. The agencies that share this levy include Bluffton Senior Center, Delphos Senior Citizens, Allen County Council on Aging, and Senior Citizens Services of Lima.
