Food pantry ready for Saturday's food distribution

This month volunteers have pre-packaged food bags for clients

Bluffton Community Assistance Program’s food pantry is preparing for Saturday’s pantry distribution in a new way, according to Ed Yeager, board president.

“For the safety of our clients, volunteers have pre-packaged food bags for pickup on Saturday,” he said. “The pre-packaged food will be distributed beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday once clients arrive.”

The food bags contain the same amount of pantry items that are available each month, it’s just that this month volunteers made the selections rather than clients.

Federal taxes payment deadline extended by 90 days

April 15 is still the filing deadline

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced that the Treasury Department has pushed back the April 15, 2020, tax payment deadline by 90 days.

This will give businesses and individuals additional time, potentially lessening cash-flow issues that many are facing. However, there is no extension of the April 15 filing deadline.

The filing due date for 2019 individual and corporate income tax returns remains unchanged. Traditional extensions are still available for those needing more time to file a return.
