BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men’s basketball team rode a 46-25 first half to a season-opening victory over Kalamazoo College on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014. The Beavers were able to hold on in the second half for the 81-69 victory, thanks in large part to 11 triples.

ST LOUIS, Mo. - The Bluffton University women’s basketball team traveled to Missouri for their season opener in the Webster Tip-off Classic, facing the Spalding University Golden Eagles. The Beavers fell behind by 14 at the break and were unable to get any closer than six points in the second half in dropping the season opener, 72-57.

Bluffton's English Lutheran Church will end its Parable of the Talents Challenge supporting the  youth of the congregation with a sale and silent auction, Sunday, Nov. 16, according to Rev. Kevin Mohr, pastor.

• The event is open to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
• The silent auction will end at noon.
• The sale will continue until 2 p.m.

Persons attending will find food, crafts and gifts available. The church is located at 111 Grove St.

Bluffton school board will take action on several supplemental contracts during its November board meeting on Monday evening.

Among those contracts include:
• class advisors
• middle school winter coaches

Also on the agenda is action on substitute teacher contracts at $80 per day for:
• Kayla Reffit, Sara Jackson, Bradley DeVier, Martin Jacobs

The board will also act on offering contracts for substitute secretaries, educational aides and long-term substitutes.

Grace Mennonite Church, 502 East Main Street, Pandora, will hold a book sale and bake sale from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, and from 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22.

They will also have a pancake and sausage breakfast from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, November 22. Donations received to support MCC Relief kits.

The Dough Hook, 117 N. Main St.,  is collection donations for the Epilepsy Foundation, as November is Epilepsy awareness month.

According to owners Marlena and Shawn Ballinger, customers may sign their name onto a purple ribbon which will be displayed at the store.

"We already have a significant amount of them displayed on our front counter," said Marlena. "I also had Spectrum Salon put two purple strips of color into my hair in honor of epilepsy awareness."

Two residential open houses take place on Sunday, Nov. 16, in the Bluffton area, according to Kate Shulaw, CCR realtor.

• 1 to 3 p.m. at 137 Villanova Dr., Bluffton. The four-bedroom residence is on 0.48 acres 

• 3 to 5 p.m. at 10100 E. Lincoln Highway. The three-bedroom residence was built in 2014.
