David Greene, host of the National Public Radio program Morning Edition, will be at Jeanne's Kitchen for a book signing and presentation from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26.

Greene will speak about his train journey into the heart of Russia and his book Midnight In Siberia, which is currently on the New York Times best seller list. Copies of the book will be for sale.

On Veterans' Day, members of Bluffton American Legion Post 382 attended services at Bluffton Elementary School, Cory-Rawson School, Richland Manor, Mennonite Memorial Home and Maple Crest.

Ed Amstutz is shown presenting an American flag to just one of the many veterans at Maple Crest. Flags were passed out to all veterans at all the services.

At the Bluffton Elementary School, Larry Core and Tom and Cheryl Craig demonstrated to the 4th grade class the proper way to show a flag and how to fold the flag. Mrs. Craig told the students what each fold of the flag meant.

Roy and Marcia Armes have been announced as lead donors of the new Blanchard Valley Health System Cancer Care Center, which will be named the Armes Family Cancer Care Center in their honor. The announcement of the gift, a donation of $1 million, was made at the Cancer Care Center groundbreaking held Friday, November 14 on the site of the new center, 15990 Medical Drive South, Findlay.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University wide receiver Jack Tomlinson (Westerville/South) led the Beavers to a convincing 44-23 win over rival Defiance Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on offense. It marked the fourth time this season that Bluffton football had an athlete named Player of the Week, following Brad Swavel (Marion/Ridgedale), Miguel Alicia (Westerville/South) and Jordan Watkins (Reynoldburg).

The Village of Bluffton is preparing for winter. Here's a portion of the report Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, will give to Bluffton council on Monday. The entire council agenda is in an attachment at th bottom of this story.

Farm Leases
The advertisements for the two farm leases have been published  the last two weeks and we will be accepting those sealed bids until Friday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. At that time, the sealed bids will be opened and read aloud.

The Beavers went into the 2014 finale looking for a fifth straight win against their arch rival from up north, the Defiance College Yellow Jackets. Bluffton’s Senior Day marked a bittersweet end for the 20 seniors as they handed the Yellow Jackets their fifth consecutive loss in the rivalry matchup.

ST LOUIS, Mo. - The Bluffton University women's basketball team went down by 11 points midway through the opening stanza but the visitors outscored Webster 44-33 in the second period to secure their first victory of the season while taking in the St. Louis sights. Bluffton stands 1-1 after a long weekend on Interstate 70.
