Roy & Marcia Armes announced as benefactors of new cancer care center
Roy and Marcia Armes have been announced as lead donors of the new Blanchard Valley Health System Cancer Care Center, which will be named the Armes Family Cancer Care Center in their honor. The announcement of the gift, a donation of $1 million, was made at the Cancer Care Center groundbreaking held Friday, November 14 on the site of the new center, 15990 Medical Drive South, Findlay.
Roy Armes is the chairman, chief executive officer and president of Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, which employs more than 13,000 people worldwide. Prior to joining Cooper Tire & Rubber, Armes spent more than three decades with Whirlpool Corporation in leadership positions throughout the business and in multiple geographies. Armes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Toledo, where he and his wife, Marcia, established the Engineering Leadership Institute along with Dr. Nagi Naganathan, dean of the College of Engineering and current University of Toledo interim president.
Marcia Armes is a graduate of Western Michigan University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She previously worked for Benton Harbor Area Schools in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and has served in various leadership positions in the area of education. Alongside her husband, Marcia has experienced 14 relocations including four international adventures. Marcia is a member of the Blanchard Valley Health Foundation Board, the Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary and has served as a volunteer at EasternWoods Outpatient Center.
Roy and Marcia have lived in Findlay since 2007. They have two children, Justin, of Chicago, Illinois, and Nick of Birmingham, Michigan.
The new Armes Family Cancer Care Center is part of Blanchard Valley Health System’s ongoing commitment to provide the best cancer care possible by offering many cancer care services in one location, as well as added support services. The new facility, which will adjoin the current Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center, will include:
Medical oncology services
Radiation therapy services
Infusion therapy services
An additional 13,892 square feet of patient-centered space (added to the existing 17,000 square feet)
On-site laboratory services
On-site pharmacy services
Patient care navigation
Cancer clinical trials
Financial counseling
Nutritional counseling
Psychosocial support
Holistic/comfort services
Advanced technology including the TrueBeam Linear Accelerator for radiation therapy services
The estimated completion date of the cancer care center is September 2015.
