Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8375 Phillips Rd., will hold a fish fry from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14. Cost is $8 for adults, and $4 for children 10 and under.

Apollo Career Center Floral students will be holding a Christmas Open House, Believe in the Magic of Christmas from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Friday Dec. 5, in the Floral  Design lab.

How would you like a hickory nut pie for Thanksgiving?

The Service Group of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio is sponsoring a hickory nut pie sale in conjunction with its annual Thanksgiving bake sale. The bake sale is  Friday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.

Hickory nut pies must be preordered by calling 419-358-1015, between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The sale is limited to the first 50 pies ordered.

Many archival photos and documents at Bluffton University are seeing the light of day online via a searchable new website.

Several hundred photos have already been digitized and uploaded to Bluffton University Memory, as have issues of The Witmarsum—the former student newspaper—and examples of World War II-era correspondence. The letters were written by then-current and former Bluffton students serving in various capacities during the war, and by Bluffton administrators.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Heartland Conference has announced its All-HCAC awards for the 2014 campaign. Three Beavers were recognized by the conference coaches for their work on the pitch this season. Junior Ryan Johnson-Evers (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) and senior Peter Carlson (Toledo/Springfield) took home Second Team honors, while senior Jordan Andrews (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) was selected Honorable Mention All-HCAC.

Alex Hanna, Bluffton High School athletic director, released the 2014-15 Bluffton winter sports schedules.

All teams from middle school to high school are on the list, which is provided in an attachment at the bottom of this story.

The Dough Hook, 117 N. Main St., will hold its its sixth annual "cans for cookies" event this month.

The event is Nov. 17-29. Here's how it works: Bring in canned goods to The Dough Hook and get a cookie for each item donated.

For example, bring in 12 items and get a dozen free cookies. All donated food will be given to the Bluffton Food Pantry.

First-year Delphos Jefferson head coach Chris Sommers was selected as the Coach of the Year  in all-conference selection voting by coaches at a meeting in Delphos on Tuesday.  Delphos won the conference title by defeating Spencerville in the final game of the year to finish the year with a 6-1 league win/loss record.

Jefferson senior, Jordan McCann, and Ada senior, Noah Beach,  were voted Co-Linemen Of The Year in the NWC.
