The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will be holding services at Richland Manor, the Mennonite Home in Bluffton and  Maple Crest on Veterans Day.  

Larry Core, Tom and Cheryl Craig will be demonstrating to all 4th graders how the American Flag should be folded and Mrs. Craig will tell what each fold of the flag means.  

BLUFFTON, Ohio - A pair of Bluffton University women in their first year of collegiate soccer have been named Honorable Mention All-Heartland Conference for their work on the pitch in 2014. Sophomore Terrill Webb (Kenton) and freshman Brittany Huff (Union/Northmont) were both rewarded when the HCAC announced its top players this season.

The Ream Holiday Folk Art cutouts are now on the Bluffton Presbyterian lawn. That's your cue that Christmas is on the way. Bluffton has many holiday events on its calendar. Here's the latest list of holiday-related activities from the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Downtown Bluffton holiday garlands wil be hung on Saturday, Nov. 15.

According to Jon Kinn, Bluffton fire chief, the department will begin hanging garland at 8 a.m. Store owners should have their garland in front of their store at that time.

 

Bluffton University’s Jazz Ensemble and Gospel Choir will present a concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, in Yoder Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public; an offering will be taken during intermission for music scholarships.

The evolution of strategy will be Dr. George Lehman’s topic for a Bluffton University colloquium at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. The program is free and open to the public.

Lehman, the Howard Raid professor of business and business studies division chair at Bluffton, will present “A Strategy by Any Other Name is Still …”

Jack Tomlinson grew up playing soccer and baseball, and with a father who had played basketball.

“I knew my grandpa played football, but no one said much about it,” the Bluffton University junior recalls.

As Thanksgiving quickly approaches, Lewis Family McDonald’s begins its preparations for its annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner. The dinner, started in 1989 by the Chester Carey Family, is now in its 10th year. The dinner will be held on Thursday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lima Veteran’s Memorial Civic and Convention Center.

“We recognize the importance of having a place for people to eat and fellowship on a special day like Thanksgiving,” says local McDonald’s owner, Jerry Lewis. “We continue to be amazed with the support of our community.”

Hilty Home, 304 Hilty Drive, Pandora, will hold its annual Bazaar Friday, November 14, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday, November 15 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. It will feature baked goods, crafts, raffle items, soups and sandwiches.
