Cherne has donated $10,000 to the West Ohio Food Bank as part of the work it is performing at Potash during the current turnaround. Cherne provides the funds based on the number of hours worked by the union members they have hired from the Lima Building & Construction Trades Council.

On Thursday, Nov. 13, the Gaden Shartse monks return to Bluffton as part of their Sacred Arts of Tibet Tour. They will perform on the third floor of the Town Hall at 7 p.m. In the first 45 minutes, the monks will be doing a musical form of offering to the Buddhist goddess Tara.
This will be followed by a time where the public can ask questions about art, music, healing, and life experience of the group.
Four members of the Bluffton Creative Writers Club, won awards at the Ohio Poetry Day Association’s 77th annual Ohio Poetry Day Contests, held Oct. 24-25 in Troy.

Naylor led the Evan Lodge Workshop on Oct. 25. Poets present read their winning poems from the other 35 contests.
Bluffton University’s music department has announced the soloists for its 119th performance of Handel’s “Messiah,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, in Founders Hall. Soloists are Dr. Helen Allen, soprano; Stephanie Schoenhofer, mezzo-soprano; Justin Berkowitz, tenor; and Lance Ashmore, baritone.
Hilty Preschool and Child Care Center, Pandora, recently received a Two-Star Step Up to Quality Award from the State of Ohio, according to Heather Sanchez, director.
Step Up to Quality is Ohio’s rating system for learning and development programs.
Alice V. Niswander, 89, of Bluffton died 5:35 am, Nov. 12, 2014, at Bridge Hospice, Findlay. Shewas born July 3, 1925, in Lima to the late Amos and Phoebe Steiner Oyer. On Aug. 28, 1948, she married H. Ray Niswander and he preceded her in death Dec. 13, 2010.
