The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will deliver $500 in chamber gift certificates to winners of this year’s Bluffton residential holiday lighting contest.
Judging took place this past weekend. Judges considered residential lighting displays within the village limits. In addition, they looked at residences that requested to be judged.
Bluffton school board on Monday accepted the resignation of three teachers who have made lasting impacts on Bluffton students for several decades.
The resignations are effective at the end of this school year for:
• Mary Edmiston with 37 years teaching in Bluffton
• Julie Kindred with 17 years teaching Bluffton
• Susan McKinley with 24 years teaching in Bluffton
In addition to that action, the board approved several items including:
Standout Graphics, owned by Gideon Fisher, Bluffton, is the Bluffton Icon's newest advertiser. He works with clients from his home. The firm is the Bluffton Icon's newest advertiser.
Fisher was a visual communication design major at The Ohio State University and has 12 years of design experience.
"I offer different types of graphic design services," he said. "I create logos, websites, brochures, posters, business cards, shirt designs, decals, banners, ads, menus, billboards and similar products."
Nancy Elwood bowled a 257 for women's high game and Onalee Shepler reported a 626 high series at Southgate Lanes for the week ending Dec. 12, according to Derek Dukes.

Nice story on old man Bluffton.So start a list/a section. Things to work on to improve divided by sections. In any town there are a lot of small things that can be done to make things better.

• Let residents have their input and recommendations.
Keep track of what they recommend and what is accomplished. Keep chipping
away on the list.
Hate wrapping presents? Not sure how to wrap that weirdly shaped gift? Tired of fighting with the scotch tape?
The Cory-Rawson Impressions will hold a gift wrapping fundraiser in the new cafeteria at Cory-Rawson Elementary School from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20.
They also encourage parents to bring their children along, because they'll have Christmas movies playing in the choir room while the gifts are being wrapped.
There is no charge for gift wrapping, but donations would be extremely appreciated.
Bluffton University has announced the following forums for January. All forums are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
Jan. 6 Art exhibit: Opening of “Stations,” drawings and paintings by Chicago-area artist Jacob van Loon, Grace Albrecht Gallery, Sauder Visual Arts Center. Hours through Jan. 25 are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. A reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25.
Riley Creek Baptist Church will present the Christmas cantata "Mary, Did You Know?" at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21. This presentation will include well-known carols and newer songs along with narration. The cantata will be directed by Carl Snare.
The public is invited to attend. The nursery will be well-staffed.
