Vivian Nofziger and Kimberly Dove are the recipients of the 2016 Barbara Fleming Memorial Nursing Scholarship sponsored by Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, Bluffton and Pandora (MHCO). 

Nofziger is a 2014 graduate of Pandora-Gilboa High School and is a student at Huntington (Indiana) University where she is working toward a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree.  She is the daughter of Vance and Crista Nofziger of Pandora.

Here are some May highlights of events planned at the Bluffton Public Library.

Musician Doug Adams will present “Peace, Love, and the Power of Song” on Monday, May 16, at 6 p.m. on BPL's main floor.

Janette Reineke, returns Thursday, May 19, at 6 p.m. for a session on Creating Pinchpots. This program is open to adults only (18+).  Learn more about pinchpots and make your own artwork piece. Registration is required by May 12, and a $10 supply fee will be due upon registration (cash only please, nonrefundable after May 13).

Letter carriers in Bluffton and Beaverdam will participate in the Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 14.

The nationwide food drive is the largest one day food collection in the country, filling food pantries and food banks.

It is easy to help and participate. Just collect and bag non-perishable food items or paper products and or toiletries and place by your mailbox (early Saturday morning) or bring them to the Bluffton post office.

Allen County Public Health will hold a Teen Immunization Clinic for students entering grades seven and 12th.

This will be held at Allen County Public Health on Wednesday, May 11, from 2 until 5  p.m.  Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be accommodated.  To schedule an appointment for the clinic, call Allen County Public Health at 419-228-4457.

Incoming 7th graders for the 2016-17 school year are required to have a Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccination prior to the start of the school year. 

Deborah Bish from Ada, shown with the Bluffton Community Market manager, Mike Love, was the Shopping Spree winner at the Market on May 7. 

The Bluffton Lions Club sponsored the shopping spree as a way to gain proceeds for their scholarship program.  Winnings from this spree and other projects conducted by the Lions Club make it able to again give six scholarships for seniors in the area schools of Bluffton, Pandora-Gilboa and Cory-Rawson. 

These scholarship winners will be announced at the school’s annual awards session this week.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University baseball team knotted the score at 4-4 with three runs in the top of the eighth, but Transylvania took the series opener with a walkoff sacrifice fly to center an inning later for a 5-4 victory on a beautiful Friday, May 6, 2016. Transylvania upped its mark to 20-16 overall and 16-8 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton fell to 15-23 and 8-17 in the HCAC.
