Marilyn R. Hancock, 87, died May 10, 2018, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. Marilyn was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Lima. On Aug.18, 1952, she married Alexander Hancock who preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1998.
Marilyn graduated from Ada High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pinochle Club and member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church.

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bluffton University baseball season came to an end, but not before the 2018 Beavers became the first team in school history to make the Heartland Conference baseball tournament. Anderson wriggled away with a 5-4 win in the first elimination game of the tourney on Friday, May 11, as Bluffton wrapped up its season with a 21-18 mark.
Bluffton Family Recreation offers Camp Laffalot, a camp returning for its second year, and registration is now underway, according to Daniel Tinch, executive director.
Camp Laffalot will be held at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Friday, July 9 to 13.

• Phillip M. Birkey of Bluffton, Master of Arts in Organizational Management
• Traci Heinze of Bluffton, bachelor’s degree in organizational management. Heinze was the recipient of the Distinguished Scholar in Organizational Management award and is a 2017-18 Pi Delta Society member.
• Joseph Bischoff of Bluffton, bachelor’s degree in physics with chemistry and mathematics minors.
Harold Eugene von Stein, 82, of Jenera, Ohio, died on May 9, 2018, at 9:05 a.m. at his residence.
He was born on April 15, 1936, to the late Harley and Frieda (Marquart) von Stein. On Feb.23, 1958, he married Deloros Mae Bormuth at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, with whom he recently celebrated 60 years of marriage, and she survives in rural Jenera.
A parent/son basketball shooting clinic is set for Saturday, June 9, at Bluffton High School, according to Todd Boblitt, BHS boys' varsity basektball coach.
The clinic is free and takes place in the high school gym from 10 a.m. to noon.
Boblitt said, "This is open to any parent and son interested to learn or enhance basketball shooting mechanics and methods to improve consistency, hand placement and footwork."
Picture Perfect Babies of Sidney is now providing newborn photography at Bluffton Hospital, according to Brad Van Tilburgh of the company.
"We are an in-hospital professional photography service that offers complimentary newborn sessions to each mom who delivers at Bluffton's birth center," he told the Icon.

(LIMA) - Senior Justin Haggard entered the OHSAA Sectional Tournament as the top overall seed and he lived up to the billing in the early rounds of the tournament.
Haggard won his first two matches 6-0,6-0 and 6-1, 6-0 to secure a spot in the District Tournament next week. Justin will resume semifinal play Saturday in Lima against Van Wert’s Michael Etter.

(SPENCERVILLE) - Bluffton’s track teams got off to a strong start at the Northwest Conference Championships held at Spencerville. A few final events took place Thursday with the remainder of the finals on Saturday. The meet was held in perfect conditions with sun, mid 70’s temperatures and a slight breeze.
