Bluffton schools are cancelled on Monday, Feb. 18, according to Greg Denecker, superintendent. A 2-hour delay was announced at 5:27 a.m. School was cancelled at 7:52 a.m.
Because Bluffton has used its calamity days, the make-up day for today will be Thursday, April 18.
Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will host “Healthy Living with Diabetes,” part of the “Live and Learn” series, to educate the community about methods of coping with diabetes that promote healthy lifestyles.
This event will be held on Tuesday, March 12, from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Marathon Auditorium of Blanchard Valley Hospital and led by Thomas Grace, MD, from the Blanchard Valley Diabetes Center, a division of BVHS.
Dr. William Kostlevy, Brethren Historical Library and Archives, will present “‘Conscience, Scripture and Patriotism: The Church of the Brethren and the Crisis of the Great War” at 4 p.m. on March 3 in the Kreider Room of Marbeck Center.
Kostlevy will trace the deeply divided loyalties experienced by Brethren during the World War 1 era—owing in part to the election of Martin Brumbaugh, an ordained Church of the Brethren minister, as governor of Pennsylvania in 1914.
Bluffon school board will act on a list of 19 coaching openings for this spring and next fall at Monday' school board meeting.

Also on the agenda is approval of the Allen County budget commission's general property tax report for 2019. An additional chart below shows that information.
The chart shows that the school district will receive $4.1 million from levies outside the 10 mill limiation.
Allen East scored a total of 296.5 points to take the 2019 Northwest Conference Wrestling Championship held at Allen East High School.
Bluffton finished second in the tournament with 270 points while Columbus Grove took third at 216 points. Repeating as conference champs for the third year in a row, Allen East's title was their eight overall NWC wrestling championship.
Bluffton senior Deandre Nassar (195) was named Wrestler of The Year in the NWC as he became a 4-time champion in the event. Jeff Kleman of Bluffton was voted by his peers as NWC Coach of The Year.
Alice M. Winegardner, 88, died on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at 10:30 p.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born on Sept. 12,1930, in Van Wert to the late Lloyd and Pearl (Beam) Haviland. On April 23, 1950, Alice married Kenneth O. Winegardner and they were one month shy of their 60th wedding anniversary when he preceded her in death on March 23, 2010.
Alice worked at Adon Studio, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance Company in Lima, The Fertilizer Plant in Harrod, did housework and home health care.

Frank J. Burkholder, 76, died on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at 8 p.m., at his residence in Alger.
He was born on Jan. 15, 1943, in Bluffton, Ohio, to the late Sidney and Cleora (Amstutz) Burkholder. On April 11, 1968, Frank married Terrall A. Lambert and she survives in Alger.
