Public Library hosts Allen County Council on Aging program

Do you wonder what you need to know about Medicare before you sign up? 

Gerry Burton, Senior Services Resource Specialist, Allen County Council on Aging, will present "Medicare 101" on Tuesday, March 5, at 5:30 p.m. at Bluffton Public Library. 

There will be time for questions after the presentation, and participants can find out about other services the Allen County Council on Aging offers.

Bluffton HS girls' basketball team won its sectional tournament title tonight. Bluffton defeated Leipsic 46 to 40 to advance to the district. Watch the Icon for details on the game and the district tournament.

HANOVER, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's basketball team hit 30-of-37 at the free throw line en route to a 79-68 win over Anderson University in the opening round of the Heartland Conference Tournament on Friday, Feb. 22.

The Beavers improved to 18-8 on the season, while Anderson saw its season come to an end with an 11-15 mark. Bluffton's win over the Ravens has the 2018-19 squad tied with the 1984-85 and 2006-07 teams for the most victories in school history!

Mark your calendars. Bluffton Community Vacation Bible School will take place July 21 to 25 at St. John's United Church of Christ.

This weekend in Indianapolis

The 2018-19 HCAC men's basketball regular season has come to a close and the action shifts to tournament play this weekend.

The winner of the six-team Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament will earn the conference's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III men's basketball tournament.

Hanover College (19-6, 14-4 HCAC) captured their third-straight men's basketball regular season conference title.

Bluffton University trustees meet Feb. 15-16

At their winter meeting, the Bluffton University Board of Trustees welcomed a new member; approved new housing options, scholarships and sabbaticals; and granted emeritus status to two retiring faculty members. 

Several Bluffton sixth and seventh graders earned high scores on the semi-annual Noetric Learning Math Contest that took place in the fall, according to Dina Tadena, middle school math instructor.

From Bluffton John-Paul Yoder, was the seventh grade winner. He also was named to the National Honor Roll awarded to the top 10 percent of participates taking the test. More than 24,000 students from 561 schools across the U.S. participated.

Bluffton sixth grade contest co-winners were June Essinger and Sophia Kauffman.
