LIBERTY CENTER__The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team scored early and made it stand up in a 1-0 win over Liberty Center on Tuesday, October 7.

Bluffton senior Blair Utendorf netted a goal in the sixth minute off an assist from Aubrey Burkholder to tally what turned out to be the game’s lone score.

The Pirate girls improved to 8-7-1 overall after the road shutout win.

The Tigers fell to 7-4-3 with the defeat.

MEDIA RELEASE__The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce invites all to vote for the year’s best scarecrow in downtown Bluffton. There are 25 entries to choose from with photos of each at www.explorebluffton.com/scarecrows. Cast a vote for your favorite entry.

Voting will close on October 30, and winners will be announced on Friday, October 31. The first-place winner will receive the scarecrow traveling trophy.

The next Mobile Health Clinic will be held on Thursday, October 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program. This clinic includes free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening) and flu vaccines. Participants may speak with ONU Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors. 

OWDA MEDIA RELEASE__The Ohio Water Development Authority (OWDA) awarded $10.9 million through low interest loans to Ohio communities to improve wastewater and drinking water infrastructure and make water quality improvements for Ohioans. 

The Village of Arlington in Hancock County is receiving $702,450.00 at 4.27% for 20 years for the construction of a 150,000 gallon water tower to replace a water tower that has exceeded its useful life. The funding comes from OWDA’s Fresh Water Loan Fund Program.

The next monthly meeting of the Bluffton Ohio Historical Society will be Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. in the 1899 Depot at Buckeye Park.

Agenda items include Show and Tell, Part 2 scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15; forming a fundraising committee; poposed bronze plaque for the Basinger building showing two bullet holes from 1934 Dillinger robbery at Citizens National Bank.
