Clint Wilkins, age 14, is something of a train aficionado. He and his family tracked the Union Pacific’s No. 4014, a.k.a. Big Boy, from Continental to Bellevue, Ohio, when the steam locomotive made its way through Ohio on Saturday, June 6, as part of a coast-to-coast tour.

The No. 4014 is the world’s largest operating steam locomotive. It is making over four dozen whistle-stops of 13 to 30 minutes long.

FROM FACEBOOK__The Bluffton EMS has invited the public to attend an open house from 12:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13: "We have worked hard over the past year and a half to transform our building into a space that can now be used for full-time operations and we are excited to share this with the community. We look forward to seeing everyone!"

When I was chaplain at Mennonite Memorial Home, I met many amazing residents. One of the most memorable was my friend, Marvel Hilty. A graduate of Bluffton High School, she worked for 30 years at Triplett Corporation. “We didn’t make much,” she said, “but we had fun.”

She told me her happiest times were when her kids were small. She had three children, Jerry Hilty, Diana Marshall and Joy (Leigh) Shoemaker. Included in her family were two stepchildren, eight grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She talked about them often, and when asked what lifted her spirits when feeling sad, she said, “being thankful for what I have.”
