Bluffton Shuffleboard Club launched the 2018 tournament and open play season on May 24-25 at the Buckeye Park shuffleboard courts, according to Scott Slaughterbeck of the club.

The club invites the public to play Mondays and Saturdays at 10 a.m., and Thursdays at 4 p.m.

The following tournament schedule is set for this summer at the courts:

Bluffton schools summer office hours begin on Tuesday, May 29. Those hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in each school office, Mondays through Fridays.  The offices are closed in July and reopen in August.

Earlier this month, Hope Hannah, a Bluffton police officer, received a master’s degree in criminal justice with a specialty in forensic science from Ashford University, San Diego, California.

The degree was obtained through online class work. Hannah participated in the May 6 graduation ceremony in California.

She started her master’s program in June 2016, the same year she completed a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from Franklin University, Columbus.

(TIFFIN) - Senior Abbey Gambrell advanced to the Regional Finals on Friday in the 300 hurdles.  Gambrell was the only Pirate to advance out of Wednesday’s meet.

Kaleb Jefferson continued to best his own record in the discus Wednesday, throwing a career best 146-10.  The toss was good for sixth place overall.  The senior will be back in action Friday as he competes in the high jump.  Jefferson made the State Meet in that event last season.

There's an interesting story line in this photo. It involves action figures, play characters and lots of imagination. The Icon caught this scene during playtime at the pre-kindergarten class at Bluffton Child Development Center.
