Vernal Corson, 1917-2011
Vernal H. Corson, 94, of Bluffton died Oct. 24, 2011 at Baton Rouge Senior Services Health Center, Lima. She was born May 21, 1917, in Van Wert to Raymond and Ruby Ausman Holbrook. On June 19, 1937, she married Donald C. Corson and he preceded her in death.
Vernal spent most of her adult life in Bluffton. She was employed as the secretary/clerk of the Board of Education and treasurer for the Bluffton Schools for a number of years.
Later she worked as a secretary for Ex-Cello Corp. She was a 1935 graduate of Lima Central High School.
She is survived by her son, Barry l. (Fran) Corson of Jamestown, a grandson, Glenn C. Corson of Xenia, a granddaughter, Mila K, (John) Orford of Bluffton, S.C., a great grandson, Ryan J. Orford of Bluffton, S.C. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Carol (Harold) Jewell, Avanelle (John) Mullady and Claudia (Charles) McAdams.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Tom Jewell will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
